WEB SERVICES REPORTS
Detailed reports for requests to the two primary campus Web servers
(www.uky.edu and ukcc.uky.edu) are available. These come from the server
logs, but are not completely accurate for several reasons. System
failures or other unusual conditions can cause loss of log data. This is
infrequent, but it does happen. A larger source of undercounting is
caching proxy servers which act as intermediaries between users of many
Internet service providers and other large organizations and the rest of
the Internet. Such a server might access a page on one of our servers
once and serve it out to its users many times. Our server would have
only a single access. The same thing happens on a smaller scale with
individual clients because of caching done by individual browsers.
MONTHLY REPORTS BY CATEGORY
These reports group Web requests by directory or category arranged by
decreasing number of accesses. For each there is a total for the month,
the total for the month from off-campus clients, and a daily mean.
