Here are the statistics for the use of CMS View and VM Gopher services in
April.  CMS View is available only to CMS users - either using their own
userid or by logging on to one of the anonymous View userids.  VM Gopher
is available to CMS users and anyone with a workstation with campus
ethernet access and Gopher client software. (We have client software for
Macintosh, DOS, and Unix systems.) Our Gopher server is also available
world-wide through the Internet and provides a convenient path to other
servers by campus users.
 
The transaction counts are counts of menu picks - when someone picks an
item from a View or Gopher menu that is one transaction.  A transaction
could lead to a text document, a search, or another menu.
 
Compared to March there was a slight decrease in View use and a slight
increase in Gopher use, including nearly double the number of transactions
from campus workstations.
