IBM 3090-600J

REMOVED FROM SERVICE 9 MARCH 1996.
REPLACED BY IBM 9672.

The IBM 3090-600J ran VM/ESA (ukcc.uky.edu) for general purpose computing needs, electronic mail, and an assortment of servers. It ran MVS/ESA (ukccb.uky.edu) for administrative use.

The 3090-600J included six processors (about 25 MIPS each), six vector processors, 64 channel (input/output) processors, 512 megabytes of main memory, one gigabyte of expanded memory, and about 200 gigabytes of disk storage using RAMAC. It used impact printers and an IBM 3800 laser printer.

When originally installed the 3090 was a model 300E. It was upgraded in July 1990 to a model 600J. At that time an IBM 3084 was removed from service. The 3090 was replaced by an IBM 9672.
