PRACTICE SAFE HEX * Acquire software only from trusted sources. In particular, never insert a diskette without the manufacturer's seal, never use a program borrowed from someone "with poor computer hygiene," don't execute programs received through mail, don't let employees bring software from home, and beware of public bulletin-board software. * Scan and monitor for viral activity regularly. In particular, purchase anti-viral programs, but beware of them, too, and monitor last-modified dates of files. * Backup often and systematically. -- Raphael Finkel, PhD Editor's Note: These tips were extracted from a lecture given by Dr. Finkel on February 13, 1990.
